Ministries of Unity Baptist Church

King David, when only a youth, once said to his brothers, "Is there not a cause?"  To David there was a cause for which he was willing to risk his life.  None of the other people were willing to do so--to them there was no cause great enough to die for.

I can imagine our Lord Jesus Christ standing before the host of heaven when all seemed beyond hope for mankind.  There was nothing any of the angels could, or possibly even would, do for such wicked, vile creatures who had rejected their majestic creator.  Our Lord's plans perhaps were then revealed to them.  Can you see them absolutely horrified by our Saviour's plan?  Can you hear them plead with Him not to give up all He had for such miserable wretches?  But Jesus Christ simply said to them, "Is there not a cause?"

Christ saw a cause for which he was willing to give up everything--He humbled Himself; He made Himself nothing--and suffered the ultimate humiliation, and became obedient to death--even death on a cross!  He did it for those of us who would inherit eternal life, so that we could be reinstated into that privileged kingdom that we lost through Adam.

When Jesus Christ was on earth, He called to Himself twelve men into whom He poured His life.  He had a purpose for those twelve disciples to fulfill, and He prepared them for their calling.  After His death and resurrection, He appeared unto them and gave them their mission for the rest of their lives.  He said, "As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."  He was transferring to them the responsibility to live and even die for the cause for which He came: to make disciples.

Can you hear Him saying the same thing to us?  He does.  All Christians are called to be disciples and to make disciples.  We are called to proclaim the gospel, to teach, to continue to carry out the mission for which our Savior, Jesus Christ, gave His life.  There is still a cause today.

The cause for which Jesus Christ gave up all was that He might purchase for Himself a people zealous for His Name and zealous to do the work of His Kingdom--to carry on the ministry He began.  God has not redeemed us to live our lives in the same fashion as the world.  We are called to be different--to live lives that witness to His Love, Goodness, Faithfulness, and Mercy.  He has called us to a life of ministry.  This ministry is to consume us in the work of His Kingdom.  Jesus Christ's glory and the work of the Kingdom is to receive first priority in our lives.  He said, "Follow Me."  This is a call to full time Christian service--for all Christians.

The ultimate objective for Unity Baptist Church is that, through the ministries we offer,  many will come to know Christ and will, in return, become a discipler of others.  This is the Biblical way:  to be discipled and then to disciple others. In an effort to carry out this Biblical command, Unity Baptist Church offers the following opportunities for ministry and discipleship:

  • Sunday Evening Classes for all ages
